Fresh 48 sessions - oh my heart! If you are unfamiliar with the term, fresh 48 sessions are those that take place within the first 48 hours after a baby is born. Most often they take place in the hospital but they can take place in the home if that is where the child is born. These sessions are focused on preserving memories of those first moments of life — the parent bond, a sibling meeting his new baby brother or sister, those tiny fingers and toes.

These first few hours are the most fleeting; between the lack of rest and the sheer surge of hormones I am barely hanging on to the memories I have of my babies in their first days because I have very few photos. This is definitely something that I wish I could go back and change.

This session was extra special for me as I photographed this sweet family’s maternity session this fall! One of my favorite parts of my job is having the opportunity to get to know my clients in all phases and seasons of their life. Getting to capture this precious little girl meet her baby brother was the highlight of this session. She was immediately smitten and even shared her stickers with him!
